Shin Tae-yong asked fans to be patient to see the development of Indonesian National Team football. The coach from South Korea admitted that he was optimistic that in the future the Garuda squad would definitely be better.
This statement was made after the Indonesian National Team lost 1-2 to Libya in the second test match at the Mardan Sports Complex, Friday (5/1/2024). Thus, the Garuda Squad has never won while playing four matches outside Indonesia.
Last time, the Indonesian national team won in an away match against Brunei Darussalam in the 2026 World Cup Qualification match in the Asian zone, 17 October 2023. Apart from that, Shin Tae-yong’s troops always lost.
Of the four defeats, the Indonesian national team was only able to score three goals and conceded 12 times. This is certainly not the result that football fans in Indonesia want.
Moreover, the 2023 Asian Cup is just around the corner. A thorough evaluation needs to be carried out to provide the best performance.
However, Shin Tae-yong felt that the Indonesian National Team squad was still lacking. But the 53 year old coach believes that in the future the Garuda Squad will be better and develop.
“But so far the squad is lacking, in my opinion. So in the future it will definitely develop, and it will definitely be better. So please fans don’t be too hasty with our development. So be a little more patient for the development of Indonesian football, it will definitely get better ,” added Shin Tae-yong.
