Suara.com – The Indonesian women’s doubles pair, Apriyani Rahayu / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti decided to withdraw from their participation in the 2024 Malaysia Open and India Open tournaments to maximize the recovery process.
PBSI women’s doubles coach, Eng Hian, said the decision was taken after discussions with the Head of Binpres and the PBSI team of doctors who paid great attention to the injury experienced by Apriyani Rahayu, which was the reason for the withdrawal.
“After discussing with the Head of Binpres and the PBSI team of doctors, in this case Prof. Nicolaas (C. Budhiparama), it was indeed better to give Apri a longer rest period in the process of recovering from her calf injury,” said Eng Hian in the official PBSI release, Saturday. (6/1/2024).
With these technical considerations, the coach who is familiarly called Didi made the decision to withdraw the women’s doubles ranked sixth in the world.
“So I decided to withdraw Apri / Fadia’s participation in the Malaysia and India Open 2024 next week,” said Eng Hian.
Furthermore, Eng Hian explained that Apri’s condition showed encouraging progress, but complete recovery was still needed to be truly ready to compete.
“Apri’s condition is quite good, but we want to see in the next 10 days, we want him to be 100 percent ready, then return to competition. Regarding the Race to the Olympics, let us in the coaching team think about it, he just needs to focus on healing,” said Eng Hian.
Apart from Apri / Fadia, the pair Ribka Sugiarto / Lanny Tria Mayasari are also confirmed to have withdrawn because Rebekah is sick.
“Ribka is sick and to this day has not been able to return to training, so I also withdrew Rebekah / Lanny from the Malaysia Open,” he concluded.
