Indonesian National Team Defense Considered Weak Point, Shin Tae-yong: Yesterday Was Just a Test!
ANTALYA – Indonesian National Team coach Shin Tae-yong is aware that his team’s defense line is under the spotlight of the Indonesian football public. He also stated that he had not focused on improving his team’s lines for the 2023 Asian Cup.
The Garuda squad – the nickname of the Indonesian National Team – is currently conducting a training camp (TC) in Turkey. In the TC series, the team played one test match against Libya with a final score of 0-4.
Shin Tae-yong said that of course many were disappointed with the results. However, he ensured that the match was not an illustration of the strength of the Indonesian national team.
“Indeed, the issue of yesterday’s match continues to be discussed. In fact, the match doesn’t mean anything, it’s just a test,” said Shin Tae-yong in a statement obtained by MNC Portal Indonesia (MPI), Friday (5/1/2024).
The coach from South Korea said the match was to see the physical development of the players in TC. So, he confirmed that the results were not ineffective tactics or strategy of the Indonesian National Team because they had not been prepared.
“(Test) the players’ physicality and also improve the players’ physicality as well,” he said.
Shin Tae-yong said he didn’t want to look for a scapegoat for that result. The Indonesian national team will now be looking at the second leg match against Libya at the Mardan Sports Complex, Turkey on Friday (5/1/2024) evening.
“So, we can’t blame one by one (players) in yesterday’s match,” he said.
