Suara.com – Head of the DKI Newsdelivers.com Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Arifin, appealed to the public not to play with firecrackers during New Year’s Eve 2024. According to him, playing with firecrackers could endanger local residents.
“Yes, firecrackers are very dangerous, so residents will definitely understand not to use firecrackers (during New Year’s Eve),” said Arifin to journalists, Thursday (28/12/2023).
He also said that Satpol PP officers would take action if residents were caught playing with firecrackers. In fact, as a precaution, the authorities will carry out raids on firecracker traders.
“There will definitely be action from members to prohibit selling firecrackers, we will carry out raids in places where there is generally potential for selling firecrackers,” he said.
Furthermore, Arifin said that the raids on firecracker traders had been carried out since before Christmas Day, December 25.
“Three days before New Year, in fact since before Christmas, monitoring activities have been carried out, supervising the sale of firecrackers,” he said.
Apart from that, Arifin said that his party would deploy thousands of officers to maintain security for the 2024 New Year celebrations in various locations in the capital city. Starting from the New Year celebration held by the DKI Provincial Government to other tourist attractions.
“The total number for New Year is 1640 officers deployed. Both along Thamrin-Sudirman on New Year’s Eve, then in other busy places in five city areas and one Seribu Island district,” he said.
“Then also in several open spaces, yes, tourist attractions, recreational areas, as I said earlier, in Ragunan, then in Ancol, then Taman Mini, then the open areas of Kota Tua, Setu Babakan and others,” he concluded.
