Suara.com – Garena officially announced a new tournament format for Free Fire (FF), including in Indonesia. This new format will start in 2024.
Garena Indonesia said that this transformation began with the expansion of the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) branding which will be used in Free Fire tournaments on a regional and local scale in Indonesia. This is part of the Free Fire Esports Global 2024 Roadmap.
“Starting next year, Garena will introduce a new tournament called FFWS Southeast Asia (SEA) 2024,” said Garena Indonesia in a press release, quoted on Sunday (24/12/2023).
This tournament will be a competition with a regional league format bringing together teams from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia.
“The presence of this regional scale competition will make competition even fiercer and is expected to encourage the development of esports talent in each country,” continued Garena Indonesia.

The FFWS SEA series will be available twice a year under the names FFWS SEA Spring 2024 and FFWS SEA Fall 2024. FFWS SEA Spring 2024 will be available first from March to May 2024.
This tournament will be attended by 18 teams, including representatives from Indonesia (5), Thailand (5), Vietnam (5), and three other teams from Malaysia.
The two FFWS SEA tournaments will be qualifying events for FFWS Global 2024, the highest Free Fire tournament on a world scale in November 2024.
Then for FFWS SEA Spring 2024, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam will send three teams via the direct invitational route and two teams from the qualification route in each country.
Meanwhile, Malaysia will send two direct invited teams and one team from the FFWS Malaysia Spring 2024 qualifiers, which was previously called MCPS Majors.
FFWS SEA Spring 2024 will start on March 22 2024 to May 26 2024 with a total prize pool of 300,000 US Dollars or around IDR 4.6 billion.

No more FFML
Starting next year, the Free Fire Master League (FFML) tournament series will transform into the FFWS Indonesia tournament series. FFWS Indonesia will be the highest caste Free Fire tournament in Indonesia which is integrated with the FFWS SEA series.
“In other words, FFWS Indonesia is a qualifying tournament for the Indonesian team to qualify for FFWS SEA,” added Garena Indonesia.
FFWS Indonesia will be held twice a year, namely FFWS Indonesia Spring 2024 and FFWS Indonesia Fall 2024. Carrying the value of inclusiveness, FFWS Indonesia will continue to present the Free Fire Nusantara Series (FFNS) as a qualifying round.
This is done to continue the spirit and values carried over from the FFML series, namely to provide opportunities for all players to be able to compete on the professional esports stage both domestically and at regional level.
