Rudy Giuliani filed for bankruptcy, days after being ordered to pay $148 million as part of a defamation lawsuit.
In the New York federal bankruptcy court filing, the former New York City mayor cites about $153 million in existing or potential debt, including hundreds of thousands of dollars in back taxes, money owed to attorneys and millions of dollars that could be must pay in legal proceedings against him.
The higher figure is the $148 million he was ordered to pay a week ago for making false statements to election workers in the state of Georgia in connection with the 2020 presidential race.
