Suara.com – The National Police’s Special Anti-terror Detachment (Densus) 88 claims to have arrested 142 terrorist suspects throughout 2023. Two of them were shot dead because they were said to have resisted.
Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, said that the hundreds of terrorist suspects included the Jemaah Anshor Daulah (JAD), Indonesian Islamic State (NII), Jemaah Ansakhiry Syariah (JAS), Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), and the Abu group. “Based on the type of age of the suspects, there are 138 men and 4 women,” Ramadhan told reporters, Wednesday (20/12/2023).
Ramadhan then explained that of the 142 suspects, 23 of them had their case files declared complete or P21. Meanwhile, 101 suspects are still under investigation.
On the same occasion, the spokesperson for Densus 87 Anti-terror Police Commissioner Aswin Siregar revealed that the two terrorist suspects who were shot dead had the initials M alias DA and ZK. Both died during a gunfight in Lampung on April 12 2023.
Aswin said that the two suspects who died were part of the terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) network.
“There was a firefight between the JI terrorist group in Lampung and members of Densus 88 which resulted in the death of two terrorist suspects named M alias DA and ZK at that time,” he concluded.
