Currently the public seems to be highlighting Gen Z more than ever. It’s not surprising that this happens because Gen Z has now entered the world of work and their new ways seem to be making a splash among people from previous generations.
You certainly also understand that Gen Z who are already working have new ways to achieve success and happiness. In fact, they use TikTok to share the learning they have gained.
Gen Z, who have just entered the professional world, will certainly feel shocked, especially after recently experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from that, they have also seen major upheavals in the workplace in recent years such as the emergence of remote work or WFH systems and waves of layoffs as the economy slows down.
As reported by Business Insider, in 2023, Gen Z workers will also directly experience massive layoffs, even seeing large companies such as Meta, Alphabet, JP Morgan, and Deloitte cutting thousands of job positions. Several college graduates who had received job offers were suddenly rescinded and even long-time staff were not spared from brutal layoffs.
Seeing these conditions, it is not surprising that Gen Z has its own working style that may be different from previous generations. They also share this work style trend on TikTok, and it often goes viral and is applied in everyday life.
So, what are the trends in the world of work that are being popularized by Gen Z through TikTok? Come on, check out the following review!

Lazy Girl Jobs is a trend in the world of work that was popularized by TikToker Gabrielle Judge. The term Lazy Girl Jobs refers to roles in the workplace that have little pressure but still pay appropriately.
As reported by Business Insider, Gabrielle Judge suggested to her viewers that there are many jobs out there that can pay a decent salary, and asked her video viewers to look for a job with a fairly comfortable salary, not doing a lot of work, and working remotely or WFH. Gabrielle Judge also explains in her video, examples of such jobs could be non-technical roles in a technology company or account manager.
He also explained that Lazy Girl Jobs is profitable, because it allows workers to have a better work-life balance. Not only that, this working style also benefits women who are raising children.

This work style trend was popularized by Gen Z who tried to implement a good work life balance rather than having to participate in a busy work culture. This work style also refers to women who try to slow down their activities and prioritize self-care and happiness over the relentless pursuit of success.
This work style was first created by a designer, Sienna Ludbey who wrote in the Fashion Journal. The video shared by the TikTok Fashion Journal account went viral and influenced TikTok users, even sharing the Snail-Girl Era lifestyle, including walking, relaxing in the morning and doing a skin care regimen.
Managing Up

Managing up is actually a life hack that has been around for a long time and has recently become a trend again among Gen Z on TikTok. For Gen Z, managing up or organizing yourself is the key to achieving balance between personal life and work.
Managing up will also help workers not work too much or be asked to do things that are actually outside their authority. Managing up itself is a strategy for managing the relationship between employees and superiors to make workers work according to the workers’ abilities.
Managing up became a trend again after a TikToker with the username @cecexie posted a video about how managing up or managing skills is one of the invisible rules in starting your first job at a company.
Managing up is believed to be able to make employees’ lives much easier and help ensure that workers do not cancel certain agendas just because of work.
Boreout

The hashtag #boredatwork was recently viewed hundreds of millions of times on TikTok. Generation Z seems to be sharing the awareness that their dream job feels more ordinary by doing repetitive activities than they previously dreamed of.
The concept of boreout itself can be caused by Gen Z’s disappointment with real work. However, you need to be careful about this because boreout is as dangerous as burnout.
Boreout can occur when workers are not stimulated by their role at work. This will create negative feelings towards work.
Gen Z’s post regarding their boredom at work can also be a warning to employers that they must pay attention to the needs of the next generation of workers.
These are some of the workplace trends popularized by generation Z workers on TikTok. Have you done it too, Beauties?
