Muhammad Fadli still looks cruel even though he has been absent from the racing track for eight years. This was proven when he managed to win Race 2 of the Yamaha Sunday Race 2023 at the Mandalika Circuit, Sunday (17/12/2023).
In Race 2, Fadli emerged as the fastest after setting a record time of 11 minutes 30 seconds. Second and third positions were occupied by Rikky Fauzi from Yarrci Red Black Motoshop (11 minutes 41 seconds) and M. Iqbal YROI Dynavolt from NWN WR3 Motul A4CMP Racing (11 minutes 45 seconds).
Fadli tells how he prepared for the race at the bLU cRU Yamaha Sunday Race 2023 Mandalika. He said it was necessary to make special modifications to the gear shift section which was previously on the left to the right.
“Modifications to my motorbike definitely take a lot of time because they require special treatment. First, I moved the gear that was on the left to the right and inserted the axle into the swing arm,” said Muhammad Fadli Imammuddin at the Mandalika Circuit.
Even though there was a gear change on his motorbike, Fadli admitted that he didn’t experience any difficulties. As for the braking itself, he said it was in the hands.
“Adjusting to the right isn’t too difficult, because on my daily motorbike I also use a sports motorbike. To brake, I use a handbrake. Coincidentally, someone gave me one directly from Japan,” he said.
Furthermore, Muhammad Fadli Imammuddin is interested in being able to take part again in the bLU cRU Yamaha Sunday Race 2024. However, he has to look at the bicycle schedule for next year’s Yamaha event and get permission from his coach.
“If there was an offer, I would definitely be very happy, because I really race motorbikes. Of course, if there are no conflicts and the coach allows it,” he explained.
For your information, Fadli is a former Indonesian motorbike racer and appeared in Moto2 2013 with the JiR team. However, a serious accident at the Sentul International Circuit in 2015 while appearing in the Asia Road Racing Championship Supersport 600 class meant that one of his legs had to be amputated.
Nevertheless, Muhammad Fadli Imammuddin is still active as an athlete and represents Indonesia in the disabled cycling sport. Currently, he is making preparations to appear at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris and the 2025 Asian Para Games in Thailand.
