BEIJING – China has launched its newest supercomputer, named Tianhe-3 (Tianhe Xingyi). The Tianhe-3 supercomputer delivers significant performance improvements over the previous generation.
In recent years, its predecessor supercomputer, namely Tianhe-2, has occupied the top position in the ranking of the fastest supercomputers included in the TOP500 list.
However, currently the position of Tianhe-2 has been replaced by Tianhe-3, because the new generation supercomputer is able to more than double the performance results achieved.
Tianhe-3 comes with a local processor made in China. US sanctions force China to use its own technology which apparently has better performance.
As reported by Techspot, Thursday (14/12/2023), the latest Tianhe high performance computing (HPC) system specifications come from the Guangdong-based GDToday media site.

Tianhe-2 marks the beginning of China’s dominance in the HPC market, but Tianhe
