General Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Billiard Sports Association (PB POBSI) Hary Tanoesoedibjo admitted that he was not satisfied with the achievements that had been achieved in the sport of billiards. Therefore, he wants to continue to improve his billiards performance.
“Frankly, I am not satisfied with the existing achievements, so in the future it will be improved even better,” said Hary Tanoe at the 2023 PB POBSI National Conference (Munas) at the Lido Lake Resort Hotel, Bogor Regency, Monday (11/12/2023) .
Hary Tanoe has several ways to improve this achievement. Starting from improving the quality of Indonesian coaches and referees and increasing competition in Indonesia.
“The first way is to improve the quality of coaches and referees in the many domestic and international competitions that we hold in Indonesia so that Indonesia can be uplifted and give confidence to athletes and also if there are a lot of competitions there is a lot of automatic training,” he said.
Then, make billiards a good sports industry. Because, if the sports industry was profitable, there would definitely be lots of pool halls.
“I will also be more active in mainstream media, news portals and social media. I will increase this so that it attracts more public interest and improves athletes’ self-esteem,” he added.
No less important, continued Hary Tanoe, is improving the soft skills of billiard athletes. This is important to improve the mentality of athletes, especially in international events.
“Then what is no less important is developing the soft skills of athletes. Because I noticed that even though they are good at playing, when they compete internationally, they sometimes get nervous. Billiards is a ball, so if you’re nervous you can’t miss even a little. So, we strengthen the soft skills. “They sometimes forget that we train their technical skills, but we also need to hone their soft skills and mental strength,” he explained.
“The hope is that in this way we can improve our achievements and hopefully produce world champions,” added Hary Tanoe.
