Suara.com – After the first case of Mycoplasma Pneumoniae in Indonesia was confirmed, quite a lot of people asked whether the outbreak of this bacteria could be contagious?
Recently, North China reported the discovery of a new outbreak which was later identified as Mycoplasma Pneumoniae. This discovery was not long ago since the area increasingly relaxed the rules regarding Covid.
Is Mycoplasma Pneumoniae contagious?
Maxi Rein Rondonuwu as Director General of Disease Prevention and Control said that Mycoplasma Pneumonia is a disease that can be easily transmitted.
“From these six cases, we carried out an investigation. Even though the incident has passed, of course epidemiological investigations are still ongoing to gather information, especially in school and residential environments. “Because transmission is via droplets, it spreads more quickly,” said Director General Maxi.
The six cases in question are cases that have been discovered in Indonesia. Of the six people confirmed to have Mycoplasma Pneumoniae, five of them were treated at Medistra Hospital, while one person was at JWCC Hospital, Newsdelivers.com.
Of the five patients, two patients at Medistra Hospital underwent treatment during October 12–25, while the other three underwent outpatient treatment that month.
Meanwhile, one person at JWCC Hospital was also hospitalized. Currently, all patients have been declared cured.
Director General Maxi also said that all patients infected with Mycoplasma Pneumonia in Indonesia are children aged 3-12 years.
The symptoms felt by the patient were fever and coughing, mild shortness of breath, and difficulty swallowing.
Government advice
Even though all patients are now healthy and can carry out their activities as usual, the government still asks the public to remain alert. Director General Maxi asked the public to be disciplined in implementing health protocols, especially wearing masks when sick or in crowds.
Not only that, Director General Max also asked the public to always maintain their health and endurance, comply with government regulations, and remind each other.
That is the information regarding whether Mycoplasma Pneumonia can be transmitted and its development so far in Indonesia. Hopefully you stay healthy and can keep each other clean.
