JAKARTA – Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora RI), Dito Ariotedjo is no longer worried about the Israeli National Team qualifying for the 2025 U-17 and U-20 World Cups. This is thanks to Singapore, which is Indonesia’s partner in bidding for this big event.
PSSI signed an agreement with Singapore regarding plans to co-host the 2025 U-17 and U-20 World Cups. The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora RI), Dito Ariotedjo, said that his party had agreed to discuss the bidding plan with the Singapore Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“So, yesterday at the U-17 final before it started, PSSI and the Singapore football federation had entered into a cooperation agreement and also a FIFA letter of intent regarding the joint implementation of the U-20 and U-17 World Cups,” said Minister of Youth and Sports Dito when met at Republic of Indonesia DPR Building, Jakarta, quoted Tuesday (5/12/2023).
“However, this will be followed up again between the two countries. That’s me as the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports and the Singapore Minister of Youth and Sports, God willing, in the near future we will hold a meeting together. “We will update the results later,” he said later.
Previously, Israel’s presence was said to be the cause of the cancellation of two major events in the country, namely the 2023 U-20 World Cup and the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games (AWBG). Regarding this, Menpora Dito is no longer worried.
Because Indonesia is not alone in bidding for the 2025 U-17 and U-20 World Cups. This means that if they qualify for the event, there is a big possibility that Israel will play in Singapore if there is another rejection in their homeland.
“God willing, there will be no (worries) because it was already known that we are also collaborating with other countries,” said Minister of Youth and Sports Dito when answering questions from MNC Portal Indonesia (MPI).
Previously, Israel U-20 was able to speak until the semifinals of the 2023 U-20 World Cup which was held in Argentina. In that event, Ofir Haim’s team was defeated by Uruguay U-20 with a narrow score of 1-0.
Surprisingly, Israel U-20 came out as third champion after winning 3-1 over South Korea U-20. Therefore, it is not impossible that Israel U-20 will return to enliven the next edition.
