Suara.com – The wave of rejection of political dynasties ahead of the 2024 elections continues to surge. This time the rejection came from students and people in Palu, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi).
Thousands of students and people held a Democracy Platform on the grounds of the Unazlam Palu campus, Friday (01/12/2023).
Chief Executive of the Democracy Forum, M Idham, said that the demonstration agenda was attended by around 5,000 students and the people of Central Sulawesi.
Idham said that the Democracy Platform was a means of inviting students and the people to maintain democracy and the ideals of reform.
“Reject dynastic politics and human rights violators. There are so many inequalities that occur in society. We have the same concerns, our country is no longer on the side of society,” he said, in a written statement, received by Suara.com, Friday (1/12/2023 ).
A number of ’98 activists were also present at the democracy platform this time, including Ariyanto Sangaji, Deddy Irawan, and Dedi Askary.
Director of the Tanah Merdeka Foundation, as well as 98 activist, Aryanto Sangaji, said that so far there has been arbitrariness in law enforcement in Indonesia today.
Aryanto believes that the Constitutional Court (MK) was forced to appoint the president’s son as a candidate for vice president (cawapres). This is nothing but an act of nepotism as happened during the New Order (Orba) era.
“If we don’t respond carefully, this is dangerous. It will appear again 25 years later. KKN will return as happened during the New Order regime. We will immediately fight back,” said Aryanto.
Previously, students and the people in a number of regions took the relay for democracy as a form of rejection of the political dynasty allegedly carried out by the current President Joko Widodo.
Not only in Palu, previously similar actions were also carried out in a number of areas. A number of regions that have carried out demonstrations for democracy include East Java, Yogyakarta, East Nusa Tenggara, and Central Sulawesi. They agreed to reject dynastic politics and the rise of the neo-Orba.
