The costs for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage were finally agreed upon by the Working Committee or Working Committee of Commission VIII DPR.
The cost of organizing the 2024 Hajj Pilgrimage (BPIH) will be IDR 93.4 million. This nominal value is down from the initial proposal submitted by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion of IDR 105 million.
“The DPR RI Commission VIII Working Committee, in carrying out research and sweeping the BPIH in 2024, offered almost the same figure at IDR 93 million. Thus, the reduction in the figure given by the Government Working Committee will immediately be followed up with an agreement as BPIH in 2024,” said the Deputy Chair Commission VIII DPR Ace Hasan Syadzily quoted from detikcom, Friday (24/11).
Ace said that most members of Commission VIII DPR proposed that payment of Hajj costs be divided in a proportion of 60 percent paid directly by the congregation and 40 percent covered by the value of the benefits.
This means that each pilgrim is estimated to pay an average of IDR 55-56 million for the Hajj and the rest will be covered by the value of the benefits.
“With this composition, it is estimated that each congregation will pay an average of IDR 55-56 million per congregation. The remainder is covered by the benefit value of IDR 38 million,” said Ace.
The composition of this payment takes into account aspects of fairness in the use of the benefit value of Hajj financial funds. Apart from that, Ace also proposed paying installments for prospective pilgrims.
“This decision is faster than in previous years so that the congregation has a long time to make repayment. In terms of this repayment, we are proposing repayment in installments by the prospective Hajj pilgrims,” said Ace.
“By reducing the BPIH proposal, we ask the Indonesian Ministry of Religion not to reduce the quality of Hajj services which have been getting better,” he added.
Meanwhile, the departure of prospective pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj in Indonesia will take place from May 12 to June 14 2024.
