BANGKALAN – Madura United coach, Mauricio Souza, criticized Bali United’s players’ overthrowing tactics in the 2023-2024 Liga 1 continuation. The Brazilian coach said that the visiting team did not respect everyone present at the stadium.
Madura United suffered a painful defeat against Bali United in the match which took place at the Gelora Bangkalan Stadium, Thursday (23/11/2023). In this match, the team nicknamed Laskar Sape Kerrab was hit by a comeback with a score of 1-2.
The hosts took the lead through a goal from Junior Brandao (16′), then Bali United turned things around thanks to goals from Muhammad Rahmat (21′) and Irfan Jaya (55′). Indeed, in the second half, Bali United players fell several times, causing the referee to stop the game for a moment.
Apart from that, this match is very full of physical duels. However, Mauricio Souza still thinks that Bali United’s lying down on the field ruined the match.
“So 90 percent of the time when we were behind, the game wasn’t going well, journalists also know who benefits, journalists are also part of football fans. After Bali went 2-1 up, the goalkeeper continued to slow down the game, and they started to fall, didn’t want to play again,” said Souza after the match, Thursday, November 23 2023.
“And the referee was also involved, I was confused, the game kept stopping, stopping, the referee was not firm and we couldn’t play fast, so it was difficult, when we wanted to play fast, they fell, fell and fell,” he continued.
According to him, the Madura United versus Bali United match was very unsightly. He accused the Bali United players of not respecting the supporters and everyone who had taken the time to come to the stadium.
“What makes me sad, I’m honest, if I was at home, I wouldn’t choose a package to watch a football match like that, but let it be like that, if they think a game like this is good, then they don’t respect everything in football ,” regretted Souza.
“So they don’t respect people who come to the stadium, I will remain oriented towards playing football, not playing like that. I don’t have a problem with Bali, but it happened, because the referee let it happen on the field,” said the coach 49 this year.
“So I speak like this because I want to improve Indonesian football, I don’t just want to contribute to Madura, or the league, but to football fans,” he concluded.
