Shin Tae-yong’s instructions ahead of Philippines vs Indonesia, Sandy Walsh: Players are asked to be brave enough to hold the ball
MANILA – Indonesian National Team (Timnas) defender, Sandy Walsh, revealed the main instructions given by coach Shin Tae-yong. Sandy also wants the Garuda Squad to focus more on providing the best.
The Indonesian national team will meet the Philippines in the second match of Group F of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Zone. The match will be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, Manila, Philippines on Tuesday (21/11/2023).
In the first match, the Garuda Squad suffered a painful defeat against Iraq (1-5). Therefore, Sandy Walsh and colleagues must get three points in this match to secure their position in the standings.
Sandy said the coach had given clear directions to the players. The KV Mechelen defender revealed that the coach wanted the Garuda Squad to be braver and improve communication.
“The coach said that my friends and I had to be braver in ‘holding’ the ball, dueling and communicating well with fellow players,” said Sandy, Monday (20/11/2023).
However, Sandy did not reveal in detail what kind of instructions Shin gave. However, Sandy emphasized that the players were ready to seal victory against The Azkals – the nickname of the Philippine National Team.
“I think we can give our best when we meet the Philippines. We have to be more focused and play more optimally than what we did against Iraq,” said Sandy.
“What is clear is that my friends and I will give everything for this team and steal victory against the Philippines,” he said.
