ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s interim Prime Minister, Anwaarul Haq Kakar, on Monday (20/11/2023), drew a comparison between the ongoing massacre of children in Gaza and one of the few red lines in the West, namely the Holocaust.
“We are witnessing a holocaust against Palestinian children in Gaza. “This terrible and cruel children’s holocaust must be stopped immediately,” said Kakar, reported by Anadolu.
Kakar was speaking at a World Children’s Day ceremony in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, state-run Pakistan Television reported.
Condemning the “senseless” killings of children in Gaza, Kakar said Palestinian children have been the main victims of Israel’s actions in the besieged enclave.
“Professional soldiers never target unarmed citizens and children during war,” he said.
“We are trying, together with our global partners from the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) platform and others, to pressure the western hemisphere, led by the United States, that sanity must be upheld,” he stressed.
Pakistan has witnessed a number of large-scale demonstrations in support of Palestine since October 7.
Islamabad has sent two waves of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
Since Israel began bombarding Gaza on October 7, as many as 13,000 Palestinians have been killed, including more than 9,000 women and children, and more than 30,000 others injured, according to the latest figures.
