Suara.com – While attending a working meeting (raker) with Commission IX of the DPR, at the Nusantara I Building DPR RI, Newsdelivers.com, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah said, one of the employment challenges in Indonesia is the gap between the supply and demand sides of the labor market.
According to him, as many as 1.8 million SMA/SMK/MA graduates every year are not accommodated in tertiary institutions and are forced to enter the job market.
“The low level of digital skills is a challenge to meet industry needs in the future,” said Minister of Manpower Ida.
He said that in the future, the pattern of demand for labor will focus more on jobs that involve the use of digital technology. Apart from that, soft skills such as analytical skills, problem solving orientation, creativity and communication will also be very necessary.
“However, the digital skills possessed by Indonesian workers are still theoretical and general, so there is a gap on the supply and demand side,” said Ida Fauziyah.
He emphasized that as a solution to reduce labor market disparities, his party has created a link and match policy which leads to a policy of building integrated training, certification and workforce placement.
To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Manpower has a link and match employment policy, which includes developing an integration system for training, certification and placement; Strengthening institutions and developing the labor market ecosystem; development of an inclusive labor market; Strengthening human resources for training, certification and placement in integrating training, certification and placement; Strengthening norms, standards and procedures that support the integration of training, certification and placement; Digitalization of labor market services; and Development of partnerships and collaboration with stakeholders.
“All employment link and match policies are in line with revitalization and vocational education and training strategies,” said Minister of Manpower Ida.
