Suara.com – A Starbucks barista abroad shocked netizens because he shared drink recipes at this coffee shop which is said to be affiliated with Israel. In his TikTok video, which has now been deleted, the account @thiccestfairy said that he would soon quit his job.
He did this as a form of protest and boycott of Starbucks. So, before he officially stops, the man will share drink recipes in several videos, so that the public says he can make them himself at home.
“Welcome back to my series where I show you how to make all the different Starbucks drinks as someone who is leaving the company, so you can participate in the boycott and still be able to drink all the drinks in the world,” said the man known as Wyen as Suara.com quotes from Dailydot.
He then showed how to make a Honey Citrus Mint drink, also known as “Medicine Ball.”
“So start, add four pumps of this honey mixture. Or you can use regular honey,” he adds.
He then went on to demonstrate some other Starbucks fan favorites. Wyen’s tutorial ultimately sparked a surge in demand for other popular drinks, indicating high demand for homemade versions of Starbucks menu items.
“How do you make Strawberry Acai?,” asked one user excitedly.
“How do you make vanilla sweet cream cold foam?,” said another.
“How do you make a pumpkin spice chai latte?,” and the list of requests continues to grow.
Garnering 355K views, Wyen’s demonstrative video is more than just a farewell to the company; this is a guide for those who want to participate in the Starbucks boycott while still enjoying their favorite drink.
Wyen’s profile, with more than 47,000 followers, has become a hub for DIY Starbucks fans.
As is known, Starbucks is one of the brands included in the list of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement which is taking place globally.
Starbucks has actually emphasized that it has never sent any profits to the Israeli government and/or army. Starbucks stated that it ended its partnership in Israel in 2003 because of operational challenges, not political concerns.
However, Starbucks has recently been accused of supporting Israel because it sued its workers’ union, Starbucks Workers United, earlier this month after the labor organization posted a since-deleted message on X, which expressed solidarity with Palestinians. The hashtag #boycottstarbucks has been viewed more than 29 million times on Tiktok.
Starbucks accused the union representing thousands of its baristas of damaging its brand and endangering co-workers with pro-Palestinian tweets. The union has also filed a countersuit against Starbucks. They called the lawsuit an attempt to damage the union and undermine their organizing efforts.
