LONDON – An eight-goal drama was created when Chelsea held Manchester City to a 4-4 draw in the 2023/2024 Premier League match week 12 at Stamford Bridge, Sunday (12/11/2023). Mauricio Pochettino said he was satisfied with this additional one point.
Chelsea’s four goals were scored by Thiago Silva (29′), Raheem Sterling (37′), Nicholas Jackson (67′) and Cole Palmer (90+5′). Meanwhile, Man City’s four goals against the hosts were scored by Erling Haaland (pen 25′, 47′), Manuel Akanji (45+1′), and Rodri (86′).
Pochettino admitted that he was satisfied with the results obtained by Chelsea. The formation player with an Argentinian passport is happy that his team entered the international break with results that did not disappoint.
“We scored four goals against the best, best team in the world. It’s great to enter an international break like this,” said Pochettino, quoted from BBC International, Monday (13/11/2023).
Furthermore, Pochettino revealed the secret of Chelsea always being able to catch up. The former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach said that never giving up and being brave was the main formula to trouble Manchester City.
“The approach to the match was good. We were brave. That is the idea of football. I am very proud and happy. The players never gave up. The reaction of the players was extraordinary,” said Pochettino.
“I think this type of game gives us the capacity to believe. We need to play more matches and be competitive without space. This gives the team good knowledge about their teammates,” he concluded.
