European Union foreign ministers gathered, Monday (13/11), in Brussels, Belgium. They will discuss Gaza and the situation in the Middle East, Ukraine, Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as COP28.
Upon arrival, European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell called for an “immediate pause” on Gaza. He urged Israel to show “maximum restraint”.
“We condemn Hamas’ use of hospitals and communities as human shields. “And on the other hand, we ask Israel to exercise restraint and carry out maximum targeting to avoid casualties,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ireland called for further steps by calling for a “humanitarian ceasefire”. The Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Albares Bueno, said the same thing.
“I will call for a humanitarian ceasefire. “I will call for a peace conference and I will call for a two-state solution and the recognition of a Palestinian state,” he said.
Meanwhile, Greek Foreign Minister Georgios Gerapetritis said: “Human life and human dignity have no color. Has no citizenship. So, it is time for us to act urgently.”
Regarding Ukraine, Borrell told journalists that the EU’s support was increasing. The amount of aid reached “27 billion euros.”
The 27 people will discuss how to further help in the most effective way. (ka/ab)
