GAZA – On November 10 2023, Israel’s Arrow 3 air defense system successfully intercepted a long-range ballistic missile launched from outside Palestine. This interception was the first for the Arrow 3 system since it was deployed in 2017.
The Arrow 3 missile is designed to intercept ballistic missiles outside the Earth’s atmosphere, at altitudes of up to 100 kilometers.
As reported by Armyre Cognition Sunday (12/11/2023), this missile has hypersonic speed and is equipped with a high-explosive warhead.
The interception of this missile was an important milestone for Israel’s defense capabilities. The Arrow 3 system provides more comprehensive protection against ballistic missile attacks, including long-range missiles launched from abroad.
This interception is also proof of the good cooperation between Israel and the United States. The Arrow 3 system was jointly developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Raytheon Missile Systems, with support from the United States Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
These interceptions demonstrate that the Arrow 3 system is capable of providing effective protection against ballistic missile attacks. This system will be a valuable asset for Israel in protecting the country from missile threats.
The Arrow 3 missile is a hypersonic anti-ballistic missile developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and the Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO) with cooperation from the United States Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
This missile is designed to intercept enemy ballistic missiles outside the Earth’s atmosphere (exo-atmospheric), at an altitude of up to 100 kilometers.
The Arrow 3 has a maximum speed of Mach 9 (approximately 11,000 kilometers per hour) and a range of up to 2,400 kilometers. This missile is equipped with a kinetic warhead and a sophisticated infrared search system, so it can intercept enemy ballistic missiles with high accuracy.
