Malaysia’s former minister of religion, Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, auctioned off his luxury watch as a donation to Palestine.
Through an Instagram upload, Zulkifli Mohamad uploaded a photo of his Rolex watch which was a gift from the King of Saudi Arabia Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud in 2017.
He auctioned the watch at an initial price of RM40 thousand or around Rp. 133 million.
“I would like to open a bid for my beloved Rolex watch with a site price of RM40,000. Increases start at RM100 and above. The proceeds of the bid will be fully donated to the welfare of the Palestinian people who are suffering there,” wrote Zulkifli Mohamad in a post on Monday (30/10). .
“I am open to those who are interested, to bid in the comment section,” he continued.

Judging from his latest upload on Tuesday (31/10), Zulkifli Mohamad’s Rolex has been sold by a man from Johor, Malaysia.
The watch was sold for RM135 thousand or the equivalent of IDR 449 million in the last minutes of the auction.
However, Zulkifli did not reveal the figure of the buyer of the luxury watch. The buyer’s face in the upload is also censored.
“Alhamdulillah, the handover of my Rolex watch, which was a gift from the King of Saudi Arabia, DYMM Al-Malik Salman bin Abdulaziz Alsaud hafizahullahu ta’ala, has been completed to its new owner, a “Servant of God” from Pasir Gudang, Johor,” wrote Zulkifli.
“I asked him, “Why was it ticked to bid with the value of RM135,000 in the last 7 minutes before closing at 12 midnight yesterday?” This bidder burst into tears and then cried. His answer was because it was a gift from the King of Saudi Arabia, mine, and for Palestine,” he continued.
Zulkifli himself plans to go to Jordan to hand over RM100 thousand directly to Palestinian refugees in Amman, through Muslim Care Malaysia.
While the remaining RM35 thousand will be handed over to 8 selected charities, namely MERCY Malaysia, Global Peace Malaysia, Cinta Gaza, Aqsa Syarif, PAS Relief, MAPIM, Aman Palestin and MyFundAction.
