RIYADH – Tyson Fury managed to achieve victory in a spectacular heavyweight boxing fight against Francis Ngannou at the Kingdom Arena on Sunday, 29 October 2023. The fight which was held in the Battle of the Baddest involved two great fighters who are known for their extraordinary strength and toughness. Fury, who is also the WBC world heavyweight boxing champion, managed to defend his title and undefeated record by winning via split decision.
However, Fury’s victory did not come easily. He was even knocked down by Ngannou in the third round with a strong left hook. Apart from that, Fury also suffered a laceration on his forehead due to Ngannou’s punch in the second round. Below are the three main reasons for Tyson Fury’s victory:
1. More Experienced:
One of the key factors in Fury’s victory was his extensive experience in the world of boxing. Fury has had a career since 2008 and has various heavyweight world titles. He has defeated great boxers such as Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder, and Otto Wallin. With complete fighting skills, including footwork, long-range punches and strong body defense, Fury has the advantage in terms of boxing experience and maturity.
On the other hand, Ngannou is a newbie in the world of boxing and recently transitioned from UFC. Although he is known for his incredible punching power, he still has a lot to learn in terms of boxing techniques and tactics. Apart from that, Ngannou is also not used to the longer duration of boxing matches compared to the UFC. Although he may be able to threaten Fury in the early rounds, he will have difficulty keeping up with Fury in the later rounds.
2. Superior Physical Endurance:
Fury has better physical endurance than Ngannou in this fight. He managed to survive the hard punches launched by Ngannou which were able to make his opponents fall. Apart from that, Fury also showed that he has strong physical endurance, even when the fight lasted 12 rounds. He continued to attack and avoid Ngannou’s deadly blows with agile foot movements.
On the other hand, Ngannou seemed to lose stamina in the final rounds. He was unable to throw strong punches like he did in the early rounds. Fury’s physical endurance was one of the determining factors that helped him achieve victory via jury decision. Fury managed to control most of the round and landed more punches on target than Ngannou.
3. Jury Verdict in Fury’s Favor:
Tyson Fury won the fight via split decision, with two judges giving him higher scores (96-93 and 95-94), while one judge gave Ngannou a higher score (94-95). This decision may be influenced by several factors, including the number of punches on target, fighting style, and control of the ring.
Fury’s victory in this fight is a testament to his experience and strong physical endurance. Even though he faced adversity in the third round, Fury managed to come back and claim the win with an effective fighting style. This fight will be one of the historical moments in the world of boxing and will be remembered by fans for a long time.
