HANGZHOU – The final medal standings at the 2022 Asian Para Games (AiPG) were announced on Saturday (28/10/2023). The Indonesian contingent managed to occupy sixth place in the final standings, which shows that they have exceeded the initial target set in this multi-championship event.
First place is occupied by the host contingent, China, which won a total of 521 medals in the event. China, which is also known as the Bamboo Curtain Country, managed to win 214 gold, 167 silver and 140 bronze medals.
With this achievement, the Chinese contingent succeeded in winning the overall championship at AiPG 2022. China was followed by the Iranian contingent which was in second place. This West Asian country managed to collect a total of 131 medals during the tournament.
The Iranian contingent won 44 gold, 46 silver and 41 bronze medals. The Japanese and South Korean contingents are in third and fourth positions. Japan ranked third with a total of 150 medals, including 42 gold, 49 silver and 59 bronze.
Meanwhile, the South Korean contingent managed to collect 103 medals with details of 30 gold, 33 silver and 40 bronze. The Indonesian contingent, even though it is in sixth place in the 2022 AiPG ranking, is actually in seventh place when referring to the total medal tally.
The Indonesian contingent is in sixth position with 29 gold, 30 silver and 36 bronze medals.
The achievements achieved by athletes from the Indonesian contingent at AiPG 2022 deserve appreciation. This is because they succeeded in exceeding the initial target given, namely finishing in the top 10, by winning 19 gold, 23 silver and 25 bronze medals.
