RENNES – Indonesian women’s doubles, Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, lost in the semifinals of the 2023 French Open. They had to admit the superiority of the Chinese pair, Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning, with a final score of 15-21, 21-17 and 14-21 in a match that lasted 1 hour 25 minutes.
This result means that Apriyani/Fadia did not succeed in advancing to the final round in this Super 750 level tournament. In the top match, Liu/Tan will compete against the winner of the match between Mayu Matsumoto/Wakana Nagahara from Japan and Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai from Thailand.
This match took place at the Glaz Arena, Rennes, France, on Saturday (28/10/2023) evening Indonesian time. Initially, Apriyani/Fadia experienced a slump with a score of 1-3 at the start of the first game. However, they managed to recover and equalize at 3-3, then 4-4.
Next, Liu/Tan managed to lead with a score of 6-4, and they continued to pull away until they reached 10-6. The first game interval ended with an 11-7 lead for the Chinese pair. Apriyani/Fadia fought hard to catch up and managed to equalize the score at 12-12.
However, after reaching a draw score of 12-12, Apriyani/Fadia lost focus, conceded six points in a row, and fell behind 12-18. The first game ended with a 21-15 lead for the Chinese pair.
Even though they lost the first game, Apriyani/Fadia showed determination to get back up. They led at the start of the second game with a score of 5-0, then 12-7. This advantage was maintained until the score reached 15-13 before Liu/Tan managed to equalize the score to 15-15. Finally, Apriyani/Fadia managed to win the second game with a score of 21-17.
In the third game, Apriyani/Fadia experienced another difficult start with a score of 1-3. However, the match was fierce with both pairs trying to win points alternately until the score was tied at 5-5. The Indonesian pair then managed to take the lead with a score of 9-6.
However, Liu/Tan did not give up and managed to equalize at 9-9 and 10-10. They even managed to lead with a score of 12-10 and then 17-11. Even though Apriyani/Fadia fought hard to catch up, they ultimately lost with a score of 14-21 in the third game.
With this result, Apriyani/Fadia had to accept defeat in the semifinals of the 2023 French Open and did not advance to the final round.
