JAKARTA – PSSI Technical Director, Indra Sjafri, has confirmed that the final squad for the Indonesian U-17 National Team will be announced on Sunday, 29 October 2023. In this announcement, nine players will be removed from the squad by the Bima Sakti coach and coaching team.
The Indonesian U-17 national team recently completed their training camp in Germany. Currently, 29 Indonesian U-17 National Team players, except diaspora player Amar Brkic, are continuing their training camp in Jakarta for a week. Next, they will undergo another training camp in Surabaya for a week.
The final squad that will appear in the 2023 U-17 World Cup will be announced on 29 October 2023. At this announcement, nine players will be removed from the squad.
“Later on October 29 (the final squad for the Indonesian U-17 National Team) we will announce the composition of 18 players plus three goalkeepers for the squad for the 2023 U-17 World Cup,” said Indra Sjafri
Bima Sakti, coach of the U-17 Indonesian National Team, explained that the players who were dropped were not because their quality was poor, but because of regulatory restrictions. Even though they have to be dropped, these players still have the opportunity to continue training and competing to be selected for future events.
The Indonesian U-17 national team will start their campaign at the 2023 U-17 World Cup with a match against Ecuador U-17 on 10 November 2023 at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, and will then face Panama U-17 and Morocco U-17.
