HANGZHOU – Badminton has succeeded in adding one gold medal for Indonesia at the 2022 Asian Para Games (AiPG). The gold medal was contributed by Dheva Anrimusthi who played in the men’s singles sector number SU5.
Dheva won the gold medal after defeating Malaysia’s representative, Cheah Liek Hou, in the men’s singles final number SU5. Competing at BJ Gymnasium, Hangzhou, China, Friday (27/10/2023) morning WIB, the 24 year old athlete had to win with great difficulty.
The reason is, Dheva won in three games over the world number one. The athlete who was born in Kuningan Regency had to fall behind in the first game to Liek Hou with a score of 18-21.
Until finally, Dheva was able to suppress Liek Hou in the second and third games with a score of 21-19 and 21-17. Even so, he had quite a hard time turning things around because his opponent also put up tough resistance.
The additional gold medal that Dheva received is clearly very good news for Indonesia. This is because the Red and White Team’s number of medals at AiPG 2023 continues to increase.
Currently, the Indonesian contingent has collected a total of 66 medals at AiPG 2023. In detail, 21 gold medals, 18 silver medals and 27 bronze medals.
This achievement has made the Red and White Team exceed the given target. The target given is to be able to bring home 19 gold, 23 silver and 25 bronze medals.
