French President Emmanuel Macron, on Wednesday (25/10), promoted the prospect of building an “international coalition” to fight the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
He presented the proposal during a two-day visit to the Middle East, which began in Israel.
However, this initiative has not yet shown results.
Several leaders he met in Israel, the West Bank, Jordan and Egypt did not discuss the issue publicly.
Macron first expressed the idea on Tuesday (24/10) when he met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He said the proposal would not include sending troops into the field.
United States officials said they were aware of Macron’s proposal. (em/lt)
