Emma Raducanu has played down her chances of representing Team England at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This possibility arose after the 2021 US Open grand slam winner was not in good condition.
Since winning the 2021 US Open Grand Slam, Raducanu’s performance has continued to decline. The injury problem means the 20 year old tennis player is no longer a serious threat.
Earlier this year, Raducanu was forced to go to the operating table after experiencing problems with his ankle and hand. In fact, the opportunity to defend the British team at the 2024 Olympics is quite open considering that they will appear at the Billie Jean Cup in April next year.

However, considering the severity of his injury, Raducanu did not put any pressure on himself to be able to appear at the Olympics, instead choosing to focus on his recovery. “I didn’t even know that I could still play. I thought, there’s no way I can play in the Olympics. I don’t know,” Raducanu told BBC Radio 4 Today quoted from DailyStar, Monday (23/10/2023).
“Obviously the Olympics is a big thing in sport. I think I could play four more if I wanted to. So this one wasn’t something to rush or pressure into. I think for me it’s just getting back on the court. I love the Slams, but of course I want to experience the Olympics. I’ll just see how it goes, whether I qualify or how it goes from there.”
