JAKARTA – Google announced five updates to the Google Chrome search bar and ChromeOS devices. The largest search site announced the update in a blog post.
This update promises faster browsing with Chrome’s address bar. Launching Tech Radar, Friday (20/10/2023), here are some of the main points of the Google Chrome update.
1. Smarter Autocomplete Feature
Whenever Google Chrome users have a question and want to find the answer quickly, they should use the Autocomplete feature. The updated address bar seems to make the search engine better at predicting what to search for. Even if the user doesn’t enter the correct URL prefix, for example, when typing “flights,” Chrome’s omnibar on the desktop will suggest going to Google Flights.
This feature can also take into account personal preferences such as the user’s preferred airline. There’s no word yet on when these changes will be available on mobile devices.
2. Dynamic Results
The search bar in Chrome now has better responsiveness. This allows users to receive faster and more visible results as soon as they start typing the first letters of their question. This technology combined with the new layout, should mean access to information that is faster and easier to read. This update is only available on desktop.
3. Typo correction
Search bar users can’t count the number of times I’ve typed quickly and misspelled a URL; swapping vowels or other irregularities. Chrome will now detect these typos and immediately show similar websites based on previously visited websites.
4. Bookmark
For users who rely heavily on bookmarks to keep track of their favorite web pages, this update is a big change. Chrome now lets users search within bookmarks folders, making it more convenient to find hidden pages.
Whether you have an extensive bookmark collection or just want to access specific pages more efficiently, this feature will help users stay organized and find what they need easily. Keep in mind that to search for bookmarks via the address bar, users need to include the name of the bookmark folder.
5. Popular Sites
Ever felt like you needed answers but weren’t sure where to find them? Google has addressed this dilemma with its latest update. Even if a user has never previously visited a particular website, search engines will now suggest popular sites related to the question. This feature ensures that you will not be left behind and can quickly find sources of information through questions in natural language.
Overall, this update seems useful for quality of life improvements to the address bar that we use frequently. Now it’s our turn to see how well they work.
