JAKARTA – An incinerator that is claimed to be environmentally friendly will soon operate in Yogyakarta, after the local city government and PT Biru Sistem Perkasa agreed to work together to overcome the waste problem. Unmitigated, in a day as much as 60 tons of waste can be burned by this tool.
“This is a manifestation of the seriousness of the Jogja City Government in dealing with the waste problem in the City of Jogja,” said Acting Mayor of Yogyakarta, Singgih Raharjo after signing the MoU at the City Hall Office, some time ago.
Incinerator is a tool used to burn waste in solid form and is operated by utilizing combustion technology at a certain temperature. Because it involves combustion at high temperatures, the heat energy produced can also be used as a source of electricity.
Singgih Raharjo added that this collaboration is in line with development in Yogyakarta which prioritizes sustainable development without causing environmental pollution. With incinerator technology, the party claims that waste reduction can reach 60 tons per day. “The location is in DIY. “It can manage 60 tons per day, but it is possible to do more than that,” he said.
Director of PT Biru Sistem Perkasa, Cendra Perkasa, said that this waste management cooperation is an effective form of collaboration in reducing waste. He said the environmentally friendly technology presented uses the main raw material H2O or water, so it does not produce smoke or is smokeless when burning.
“We have the principle of providing solutions to the Yogyakarta City Government with a high technology, smokeless and green technology system,” he said.
Burning waste using an incinerator requires temperatures ranging from 1,250 to 1,500 degrees Celsius. However, burning is still limited to soft objects, so iron, stone and glass cannot yet be burned so they must be separated.
“The results of burning waste are cleaned using water, so there is no smoke, color and smell. The output from burning is ash. The figure is below three percent. So it is very minimal and small, because the combustion technology is perfect,” he said.
