A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2, according to the initial assessment of the US Geological Survey (USGS), has shaken buildings in the capital of the Philippines.
Authorities warn that there is a risk of damage and aftershocks, foreign media report.
The earthquake, with a shallow focal depth, was centered about 100 kilometers south of the capital Manila and was registered at 08:24 (local time), forcing many workers out of office buildings and onto the streets.
Earthquakes are recorded daily in the Philippines, a country on the Pacific Ocean’s “ring of fire,” an area of intense seismic and volcanic activity.
