Israel-Hezbollah Shootout, Lebanese-Israeli Border Tensed
Three Hezbollah members were killed in a firefight with Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, the Iran-backed Lebanese militant group announced Monday (9/10).
Earlier the same day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported its troops shot and killed several gunmen crossing from Lebanon into Israel.
Israel has intensified shelling in southern Lebanon in response to the incident.
The Palestinian militant group, Islamic Jihad, on Monday said it had sent four gunmen across the Lebanese border into Israel as part of a Hamas-led offensive that began last Saturday (7/10).
The group said seven Israeli soldiers were injured in Monday’s cross-border operation.
The Lebanese military asked residents in border towns to “exercise maximum precautions.”
As shooting incidents by the IDF continue, a number of families in several cities in southern Lebanon are now starting to flee to the north. (em/ka)
