Rendy Sanjaya Wins the Title of 76th Indonesian Downhill Champion 2023 at Ternadi Bike Park Kudus
KUDUS – The 2023 Indonesian Downhill 76 Championship which took place at Ternadi Bike Park, Kudus, Central Java on September 30 (seeding run) and October 1 (final run) became the stage for fierce competition. In the main Men Elite class, Rendy Varera Sanjaya, downhiller from the Dayu Racing Team, managed to win the title with a time of 3:15.046. This achievement brought him 40 points in the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) ranking because Ternadi Bike Park received the best status in Indonesia and was registered as a track in the UCI C1 category.
Rendy described that the 2023 Indonesian Downhill 76 competition from the seeding run session to the final run took place with high intensity and full of competition. Elite downhillers compete fiercely to win the podium, collect UCI points and win the championship title.
This Kediri-blooded athlete feels grateful because he managed to improve his performance, especially after achieving second fastest position in the previous seeding run session. “We have prepared well for today’s final run session during the training session. This championship result exceeded our expectations,” said Rendy after climbing the podium.

He emphasized that conquering Ternadi Bike Park in the final run was not an easy matter. Some sections of the track and corners experienced a decline in conditions, forcing downhillers to adapt better. “The track is fast, long and extreme. It requires extra energy and good strategy. We have to be smart in taking the route on this quite damaged track condition,” added Rendy.
Ternadi Bike Park, which is located at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level (asl) at the start point and 600 meters above sea level at the finish line, challenges downhillers with a number of difficult obstacles, including a rock garden at the end of the track that tests stamina and strategy. Apart from that, there are also other obstacles such as drops, double jumps and table tops which are no less challenging.
Apart from Rendy Varera Sanjaya who won the title, second place in the Men Elite class was occupied by Agung Prio Apriliano from the CWS Racing Team, with a time difference of five seconds from Rendy (03:20.677). Meanwhile, the third position was occupied by the downhiller from the 76Rider DH Squad, Mohammad Abdul Hakim or who is familiarly called Jambol, with a time of 03:20.906. With this result, Agung collected 30 UCI points, while Jambol received 20 UCI points.
Agnes Wuisan, representing 76Rider, expressed her appreciation for the courage and achievements of the hundreds of downhillers who participated in the 76 Indonesian Downhill 2023. The success of holding this prestigious downhill cycling championship is expected to increase the potential and achievements of extreme sports athletes, especially in the downhill branch, both in national and international level.
