Suara.com – Gilang Dirga responded to a request to remove his name as a Legislative Candidate (Bacaleg) because he had promoted an online gambling site. According to him, criminalization and involvement in online gambling cases are two different things.
“I think those are two different things, I did that in 2020,” said Gilang Dirga, quoted from YouTube Intense Investigation, Friday (29/9/2023).
Gilang Dirga explained that at that time he was also a victim because he did not know that what was being promoted was an online gambling site. He only accepted a job from the manager to upload online game promo videos.
“At that time I didn’t know it was online gambling. What I knew was online games, and apparently there were lots of other artists too. It’s my fault I didn’t check again,” he said.

Adiezty Fersa’s husband is also optimistic that his candidacy for the 2024 Legislative Election will continue smoothly. He believes that the public will understand that he is also a victim of this online gambling case.
“That means it’s been quite a long time. I don’t think there’s anything to do with it. I think people will definitely understand,” said Gilang Dirga.
Gilang Dirga’s name was asked to be removed from the Temporary Candidate List (DCS). This was a request from the Legal Aid Institute (LBH) from the Executive Board of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PB PMII) to the General Election Commission (KPU) as a result of Gilang Dirga’s promotion of online gambling.
LBH assesses that Gilang’s actions in promoting online gambling include exposing society to negative things. His party considered that the Legislative Assembly was not fit to deal with matters that were still being investigated by the police.
The General Election Commission (KPU) is also expected to take firm action against legislative candidates (bacaleg) who are involved in promoting online gambling. Apart from Gilang Dirga, these names are Vicky Prasetyo and Denny Cagur. The hope is that the KPU can remove these names from the Temporary Candidate List (DCS).
