Causes of milk blisters
The causes of milk blisters vary, including improper latch, shallow sucking, and breastfeeding at the wrong angle, among others. Other causes include too much breast milk supply, or a fungal or bacterial infection. Wearing a bra that is too tight or makes the nipples feel uncomfortable can also be the cause.
Various solutions for dealing with milk blisters can be done at home, Mother. These popular treatments include the following:
1. Saline solution
To remove blockages, soak the nipples in a solution of salt and warm water. Mix 2 teaspoons of salt into a cup of hot water and let it cool slightly. Finally, soak the nipples three or four times a day until the ducts are unclogged.
2. Massage the nipples
Gently massage the nipple to release the blister. Additionally, try applying pressure behind the nipple. This treatment works best when done after a shower, bath, or salt water bath, as the skin will be very soft. Don’t put too much pressure on the nipple so that it causes pain.
3. Warm compress
Use a warm compress on the nipple before breastfeeding. To make a compress, soak a cloth in warm water and squeeze out any excess liquid. Then, apply the compress to the nipple for up to 15 minutes. Gently pat the skin dry before feeding.
