KOWLOON – Indonesian men’s doubles, Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin, managed to reach the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Open 2023. They achieved this victory after defeating their compatriots, Bagas Maulana / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.
The match took place at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Kowloon, Hong Kong on Thursday (14/9/2023) morning WIB. Leo/Daniel successfully defeated Bagas/Fikri in two straight games with scores of 21-15 and 21-17.
The match started with Leo/Daniel showing fast play at the start of the first game. They tried to control the match with a combination of smashes and sharp netting play.
Bagas/Fikri responded by playing more carefully and disciplined. They are not provoked by the opponent’s fast game. However, Leo/Daniel managed to beat Bagas/Fikri in the first game interval with a score of 11-7.
After the interval, Leo/Daniel continued to pressure Bagas/Fikri’s defense. Even though there was resistance, Bagas/Fikri finally had to give up in the first game with a score of 15-21.
In the second game, Leo/Daniel continued to appear aggressive from the start of the match. Even though they lost momentum due to several mistakes, they managed to maintain their lead at the interval with a score of 11-9.
Bagas/Fikri tried to catch up after the interval, but Leo/Daniel maintained control of the match. Even though Bagas/Fikri scored several consecutive points towards the end of the game, Leo/Daniel finally closed the match with a 21-17 lead in the second game.
This victory brought Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin to the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Open 2023 and showed their potential as competitive men’s doubles in this competition.
