Alarm sirens rang across Kiev early Sunday morning. The Russian army was responsible for this, launching a massive drone attack on the capital of Ukraine. At least 10 explosions were heard, with debris falling in various neighborhoods. Officials in Kiev do not report any casualties or injuries, but after the attack, a large fire broke out in a residential building, which was then extinguished.
“It was a very scary experience, I can’t even describe it in words. I heard a ‘motor’ sound flying overhead, a deafening roar. Then there was a powerful explosion, followed by a huge flash of light. I live on the first floor and the blast wave was so strong that the glass started falling down. My window curtain was torn and the jars I had on my window were broken,” said Liudmyla, a resident of Kyiv.
Volodymyr Zelensky’s army says the attack was very intense and lasted all night. Russian forces launched 32 Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones in the direction of Kiev, 25 of which were shot down by air defenses. Meanwhile, Moscow also claims to have destroyed eight drones launched by Ukraine in the Black Sea, near the annexed Crimean peninsula.
Also, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it has destroyed 3 ships heading to Crimea, which had Ukrainian soldiers on board. The head of military intelligence in Kiev, Kyrylo Budanov, says he does not believe this war will last much longer. He bases this position on the data he possesses, mainly about the enemy, while confirming that the army’s counteroffensive will continue during the winter, despite admitting that it will be extremely difficult to move forward in liberating the territory.
