JAKARTA – The Vikings were described as the strongest race on earth centuries ago. It turns out that this picture is not completely valid.
A sturdy body, white skin, and blue eyes with long blonde hair flowing in the air are his characteristics. The Vikings were also known as masters of the ocean, war cries and sharp weapons. It turns out that these depictions were allegedly all wrong.
In 2020, a DNA sequencing study refuted some of these theories. In history books, the Vikings are said to have come from the Scandinavian Islands who had the guts to attack in order to survive.
In terms of weaponry inventions, they were quite innovative with axes, swords and spears. Their culture tends to be exclusive because they never mix with other communities and cultures.
Reporting from the Past Chronicles page, Friday (8/9/2023), the academic world defines Vikings as people of Scandinavian descent who looted and invaded Europe between the 8th and 11th centuries. Interestingly, the term “Viking” comes from the Old Norse word “Vikingr”, which means pirate.
Vikingrs went on expeditions by sea in groups with other Vikingars, the plural term for Vikings. There is evidence of the use of these terms by Scandinavians during the Viking Age, approximately 793 to 1066 AD from runic inscriptions and skaldic poetry they left behind.
It has long been believed that during the Middle Ages, Scandinavian people made their living as traders, farmers, and pirates who settled in Northwestern Europe for more than three centuries.
These fierce sea raiders often undertook large-scale voyages, conquest, trade, and colonization through Europe until they reached North America. Although DNA research has ruled out many of these theories, it confirms that the Vikings did exist.
Knowledge about the Vikings comes from giant stones decades old. On it were engraved the stories of their lives in a secret alphabet.
