Suara.com – AKBP Bambang Kayun was sentenced to six years in prison in connection with the bribery and gratification case that caught him. AKBP Bambang Kayun said the sentence handed down to him had wisdom.
“I don’t think how many years are important, no matter what, there must be a lesson. Why is there a lesson? Because please act according to your position. Later in the afterlife you will know who will go to heaven,” said Bambang after the trial at the Newsdelivers.com Corruption Court, Monday (4 /9/2023).
Bambang admitted that he was thinking about the 6 year prison sentence that the panel of judges handed down to him.
“I’m still thinking about it. But in my opinion, there’s no need for these appeals,” he said.

The judge sentenced Bambang Kayun to 6 years and a fine of IDR 200 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison. He was deemed guilty of accepting gratuities and bribes.
“Sentenced the defendant to prison for 6 years and a fine of IDR 200 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison.” said the judge.
In his decision, the judge stated that the 6 year prison sentence imposed had been reduced by his detention period. Then he also had to pay compensation amounting to Rp. 26.4 billion, a subsidiary of one year in prison.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Public Prosecutor stated that he was thinking about the Judge’s decision.
This is because the sentence handed down was lighter than the prosecutor’s demands, asking for Bambang Kayun to be sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of IDR 300 million, subsidiary to 8 months in prison. Then asked to pay replacement money of IDR 57,126,300,000, subsidiary to five years in prison..

As is known, Bambang Kayun was charged with accepting bribes worth IDR 57.1 billion. Initial findings were that he was suspected of receiving a bribe worth IDR 6 billion and gratification for a luxury car from Emilya Said (ES) and Herwansyah (HW), two suspects who are currently in court at the National Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Unit.
