CATALUNYA – Marco Bezzecchi’s future puzzle is now answered. He chose to stay with Mooney VR46 Ducati in the upcoming 2024 MotoGP.
This was announced by Mooney VR46 Ducati via their official Instagram, @vr46racingteam, on Wednesday (30/8/2023). The team owned by MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi has extended Bezzecchi’s contract for another year until the end of the 2024 season.
“VR46 Racing Team and Marco Bezzecchi together for another season!” wrote a statement from Mooney VR46 Ducati.
The announcement was conveyed in a unique way via a video. In the broadcast, Bezzecchi seemed to be writing a farewell letter to the team he had played for since the 2020 season.
“Dear Mooney VR46 Racing Team, I am writing to you because this is an important day. “After a difficult season, in 2020, I joined the VR46 Racing Team in Moto2, a group that allowed me to step up to MotoGP with Vale’s newest team in the top class,” said Bezzecchi in the video.
“That year, we won our first popdium and Rookie of the Year, it was a dream for me! “This season the goal was the first victory in MotoGP and together we achieved it,” he continued.
Then, when he wanted to say farewell, the 24 year old racer thought better of it. He said he could not leave the team that had been so instrumental in building his career in MotoGP. Then, the 2022 MotoGP Rookie also said that he was extending his contract with the team from Tavullia.
“After four years together, now is the time…,” said the Italian racer.
“Forget it! “I can’t leave. It’s time to sign for another year with the Mooney VR46 Racing Team,” he concluded.
This news destroys all rumors that said that he would move to Pramac Ducati to be able to ride the latest spec motorbike from Ducati. Currently, Bezzecchi is still fighting to win the 2023 MotoGP title by sitting in third place in the standings behind Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin.
