MORENO VALLEY – Former four-division boxing world champion, Mikey Garcia is no longer active fighting after his defeat to Sandor Martin. In the match that took place in October 2021, Mikey Garcia suffered a defeat by majority decision.
Until now, the boxer who was born on December 15, 1987 has never made an official announcement to hang up his boxing gloves. Even so, Mikey Garcia wrote the caption “Retired boxer” in the biography of his Instagram account @teammikeygarcia.
Since making his debut on July 14, 2006, Mikey Garcia has recorded 42 professional boxing fights with 40 wins (30 KOs) and 2 defeats. Throughout his career, Garcia has won world titles at featherweight, super featherweight, lightweight and super lightweight/junior welterweight.
While active on the boxing stage, Garcia has also conquered big names, such as Orlando Salido, Robert Easter Jr., Juan Manuel Lopez, to Adrien Broner. In fact, he even had a chance to taste Errol Spencer Jr.’s abilities, although in the end he had to lose on absolute numbers.
Garcia seems unlike some world champions who have declared retirement, but are still tempted to get back into the ring. Call it Floyd Mayweather Jr. to Manny Pacquiao, who seemed unable to stay away from the boxing ring.

Most of these boxers made their debut in their teens. Accustomed to training and fighting from a young age, they eventually feel itchy and confused about what to do in retirement. So in the end, they returned to the ring.
However, this does not seem to apply to Mikey Garcia. The reason is, after not fighting anymore, he enjoys his time relaxing more, spending lots of moments with his family, and watching his investment portfolio grow.
Mikey Garcia has never felt the itch to fight in a boxing ring again. “No. I’m happy with what I’ve achieved and what I’ve done,” Garcia replied to ESNEWS when asked about a possible return to the ring.
