One of the pleasures he has felt the most since living in New Zealand is the salary, Mother. His financial condition is very secure because he gets a large salary. In fact, Christa could save quickly.
“Let’s start from like first, OK? The salary here is high. Even though we have deducted taxes, we can still save a lot. What’s more, we want to bring the savings back to Indonesia,” he said in a video uploaded to his TikTok account @christasean.
“So we don’t think, for example we want to buy an iPhone, buy a laptop, we don’t think even though we are paid the lowest salary here,” he added.
It’s not just a matter of salary, Christa’s social life in New Zealand also feels very peaceful. He said New Zealanders tend to be individualistic and don’t care about other people’s lives. Therefore, there are no sarcastic comments or disturbing gossip.
“Second, most of the people here are who are you and who am I, mind your business,” said Christa.
“So there is no term here, we are gossiped about, we are asked when to get married, when to have children, when to work, that doesn’t exist. So you, your soul is healthy, right? There’s no pressure from around like that. That’s what I like the most from here,” he said .
Apart from that, Christa also really enjoyed the scenery in New Zealand’s cities and countryside. The beauty of the country makes it feel like a vacation every day.
“Third, New Zealand is really beautiful. So if you have a weekend off, then you want to refresh, just one hour from the city, you’ve seen all the sights,” he said.
“Even in the city you can feel like you’re traveling because the city is nice, green, organized. Anyway, it’s really good for refreshing,” he continued.
Christa said that matters of a mate are not a problem for those who want to look for it in New Zealand, Mother.
“For example, if you are a lover of Caucasians, an outsider, if you are here looking for a partner is really easy. Because here most people are introverts, right? All that’s left is to install the application, meet immediately. Or not, join the association. You’ve met your soul mate,” he said.
Despite all the joy, Christa also experienced unavoidable grief. One of them is the climate factor which is the opposite of Indonesia.
“Sadly it’s really cold here, especially in winter. It’s cold in summer,” said Christa.
Besides that, Christa also misses Indonesian food very much, “It’s really hard to find Indonesian food here.”
Even though she is happy living in New Zealand, Christa does not escape feeling lonely. Moreover, according to him, New Zealand is far from everywhere, Mother.
“Third, New Zealand is very far from anywhere. Yes, the point is that we want to live wherever we like, we are still there,” he said.
Like Christa, Peggy Melati Sukma, who is now part of the diaspora in New Zealand, also experienced many new things. Take a peek at the story, come on.
