Palestinian officials announced that at least 18 people, including 8 children, were killed as a result of Israeli airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip.

In southern Gaza, an attack on a house early Tuesday morning killed five people, according to information provided by Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.

Another airstrike on Tuesday leveled a house west of Khan Younis, killing at least four people.

Likewise, the Hamas-controlled Civil Defense said three children and their mother were killed in an airstrike on Monday night in Gaza City. Palestinian officials said three people were missing after the attack.

Another attack on Monday evening hit a building in central Gaza City, killing a child, three women and a man, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Palestinian health officials did not say whether those killed in the Israeli strikes were civilians or militants.

Israel says it is trying to avoid civilian casualties and accuses Hamas of putting them at risk by fighting in residential areas. But the military rarely comments on individual attacks, which often kill women and children.

According to the Ministry of Health, which is controlled by Hamas, over 40,000 people were killed during Israel's offensive in the region. The war began after the October 7 terrorist attack carried out by the militant group in the southern part of Israel, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping about 250 others.
