Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday (18/8) urged international partners to make “faster deliveries” to the Ukrainian military.

“I just received a report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces (Oleksandr) Syrsky on the situation in Eastern Ukraine, the operation in the Kursk region, the ‘exchange fund’ and the provision of ammunition and weapons to our brigades – our reserve troops,” Zelenskyy said.

In his daily address on Sunday night, Zelenskyy added, “There are no holidays in war. Decisions are needed, as is timely logistical delivery of the announced aid packages. I am especially addressing this to the US, UK and France.”

He also announced a bold military offensive into Russia's Kursk region, aimed at creating a buffer zone to prevent further cross-border attacks by Moscow.

This is the first time Zelenskyy has clearly stated the aims of the operation launched on August 6.

Earlier, he said the military operation was intended to protect the Sumy region on the border from continuous shelling. (uh)
