At least 23 people were injured when two cabins on the Ferris wheel (ferris wheel) caught fire at a music festival near Leipzig in eastern Germany, news agencies reported. dpa on Sunday (18/8).

The fire started in one cabin and then spread to a second cabin on Saturday night, police said. Four people suffered burns and one person suffered injuries from a fall. Others, including first responders and at least four police officers, were hospitalized for possible smoke inhalation, dpa reported.

The accident happened at the Highfield Festival on the Stoermthaler Lake near Leipzig. Police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

As of Sunday morning, police were still unable to provide concrete information about the condition of the injured. The exact number of victims has not been determined, dpa news agency reported.

The Ferris wheel operator told dpa that no passengers were seated in the cabin where the fire started. (ab/lt)
