Two French military planes collided mid-air in the east of the country on Wednesday, killing two servicemen. One pilot survived the crash, French officials said.

In an article on the X network, French President Emmanuel Macron identified the victims of the Rafale AM.PA plane crash as Captain Sebastien Mabire and Lieutenant Matthis Laurens.

French media reported that one of the soldiers was a pilot and the other was being trained. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu said on the X network that the other pilot survived. The planes were part of the Saint-Dizier military base in northeastern France.
