The Foreign Ministry of Kosovo said on Friday that a court in Skopje decided not to hand over to the Serbian authorities the citizen of Kosovo, Blerim Ramadani, who was arrested last month on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by Serbia.

The ministry said that Mr. Ramadani will continue to remain under house arrest in Skopje until the final decision of the Supreme Court of North Macedonia.

The authorities in North Macedonia have not commented on the announcement.

Blerim Ramadani, a former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army, was arrested at the border crossing between Kosovo and Macedonia, Jazhinca – Gllobočica, based on an arrest warrant issued by Interpol at the request of Serbia, which accuses him of “war crimes in the region of Nerodime, in the municipality of Ferizaj in the summer of 1999”.

The Kosovo authorities, through the embassy in Skopje, demanded the release of Mr. Ramadani, while the Organizations of War Veterans of the former Kosovo Liberation Army said that the accusations of the Serbian authorities against members of the KLA are fabricated and the arrests “unjust and disturbing”.
